A B.C. ski resort and destination was recently named one of the best places in the world for seasonal work, and it was the only North American spot in the top 20.
The global study conducted by Remitly placed Whistler as the 19th best location to work abroad seasonally. The resort municipality earned a score of 58.3 out of 100.
That same score earned Whistler the ninth spot in the world for ski-season work. Banff, Alta., also made the grade, rounding out the top 10 with a score of 55.8.
The top spot in both categories went to Niseko in Japan; however, Remitly says that New Zealand is the strongest-performing country, having eight spots in the top 20.
The online financial services company broke down its methodology that helped compile the ranking: “Each destination is scored out of a possible 100 points across five factors that matter most to seasonal workers: cost of living, rent affordability compared with the local minimum wage, things to do, job demand, and safety.”
