A recent property sale, an entire private island on the beautiful Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, has set a historic new sales record.
Sotheby’s International Realty Canada announced the sale on Thursday for the highest-value residential property transaction ever recorded on the Sunshine Coast through the Multiple Listing Service.
Sotheby’s says that the property is nestled in the heart of Secret Cove, Halfmoon Bay, which is located north of the municipality of Sechelt.
Turnagain Island was listed for $14,749,000 but sold for $13,000,000.

Sotheby’s says the sale reflects the demand for luxury real estate despite the ongoing economic uncertainty, “softer consumer confidence, and restrained housing market performance.”

The property is a 93-acre private island estate, which Sotheby’s says was “meticulously stewarded by one family for over 60 years.”
There are two residences located on the island, including a contemporary waterfront home featuring 2,859 sq. ft., and the other, a Pacific Northwest Coastal Craftsman-style home with 3,202 sq. ft.

“Turnagain Island is also equipped with multiple garages, a generator, municipal water supply, an irrigation reservoir, submarine hydropower, a protected 120-foot deep-water dock, and multiple boathouses and docks in three locations.” Sotheby’s says.
