If you’ve been dreaming of a calm getaway surrounded by mountains, lakes, and endless green space, Whistler, a true B.C. serene travel destination, was just ranked one of the most peaceful spots in North America.
A new ranking by travel company Travelbug has named Whistler one of the most serene destinations in the world.
It snagged the No. 4 spot overall and landed just behind Banff for the top spot in North America.
So what makes Whistler stand out?
The alpine town scored a perfect 100 for its parks and green spaces, thanks to its sprawling forests, lakes, and trails.
Whether you’re hiking in the summer or skiing at Whistler Blackcomb in the winter, the natural beauty is pretty hard to beat.
On top of that, Whistler’s pedestrian-only village gives it an extra-relaxed vibe.
CafĂ©s, patios, and boutique shops, all without the noise of cars. It’s no wonder more than three million people visit every year (55 per cent in summer, 45 per cent in winter), according to Tourism Whistler’s website.
Sure, it gets busy during peak season, but that hasn’t stopped it from being recognized as one of the best places in the world to truly unwind.
Globally, the top serene destination went to Queensland, New Zealand, while Seychelles was crowned the quietest beach escape.
Australia also dominated the list with three spots in the top 10.
Looks like Whistler’s calm, laid-back energy is officially world-class.
