The Weeknd is playing two shows in Vancouver, and although the lineup has undergone some changes, the BC Place experience will also be slightly different from the 2022 show.
As we reported earlier today, The Weeknd has a show tonight and tomorrow at BC Place, albeit without the rap services of Playboi Carti.
In 2022, following and even during the show, many took to social media to express their frustration about the conditions inside BC Place.
The 2022 show was a closed-roof concert, and some attendees reported that it was very “hot and gross” inside the stadium.
“It was hotter than hell in that stadium,” someone said. Someone else claimed it was so hot that they broke out in hives. Conditions should hopefully be cooler this year, thanks to some changes Daily Hive has learned about.
One of the biggest changes is that both shows, which are part of The Weeknd’s After Hours Til Dawn tour, will feature an open roof at BC Place. However, BC Place officials are advising concertgoers to dress accordingly as per the weather forecast and also to “drink lots of water.”
Even though it’ll be an open-air concert, it could still be quite warm, and the humidex suggests temperatures could feel like 31˚C in Vancouver today and 28˚C tomorrow. Temperatures should start cooling down a bit as the concert begins at 7 p.m.
During and after the 2022 show, people weren’t thrilled about conditions, claiming that BC Place concession had run out of water. On that note, BC Place officials shared some info with us about the water bottle situation.
“Per this event’s policy, empty non-glass water bottles or containers up to 1 litre capacity are allowed into the stadium and may be filled at water stations located inside.”
It’s important to note that lids are not permitted on the floor level.
If you don’t bring a bottle, bottled water will be available for purchase outside the gates, as well as at the merchandise tables on Terry Fox Plaza starting at noon.
Concessions inside the venue will also be selling bottled water.
A BC Place spokesperson added, “We look forward to welcoming fans of The Weeknd back to BC Place!”
