BC health officials announce 26 new coronavirus cases, two more deaths

British Columbia health officials have announced 26 new test-positive coronavirus cases and another two deaths as a result of COVID-19.

At a noon-hour press conference on Saturday, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said the total number of recorded cases in the province now sits at 2,171

Broken down by health region, there are 832 cases in Vancouver Coastal Health, 992 in Fraser Health, 123 on Vancouver Island, 175 in Interior Health, and 49 in Northern Health.

Saturday’s deaths bring the total number of COVID-19-related fatalities in the province to 114.

Out of the total number of cases, 72 people are in hospital, and Henry noted that the number of people in intensive care was not yet available, but would be announced later in the day. A total of 1,376 people are now considered fully recovered.
