It was a normal trip to the corner store for some “cranberry juice and a chocolate bar,” but for Merritt’s George Munro and his wife Rowena Inyallie, it turned into a life-changing pit stop.

While at the Courtesy Corner Market in Merritt, George purchased a Lotto Max ticket and matched all seven numbers in the Lotto Max Draw held Friday, February 22, 2019 to win the $25.9 million jackpot.

“This win comes at a perfect time as I was just thinking there’s no way I can do my job for another 20 years,” said George. “It’s really physically demanding. I’ve let work know I can stay on until they find a replacement.”

Rowena is still in shock. “We had one drink and then went home and I called my mother first,” she said. “She dropped the phone.”

B.C.’s newest multi-millionaires have already purchased a new Ford F350 and a new Ford Mustang Shelby is also on the way. After buying a few more toys, the couple plans on fixing up their house and helping out friends and family.

Rowena called it the “best six dollars we’ve ever spent.”

“We will have a big barbecue with family,” added George. “We also run a baseball team at home so I think brand new jerseys are in store for everyone.”
