UPDATE: Shortly after 2 pm, BC Hydro said power had been restored to the affected areas in both Burnaby and East Vancouver.

Thousands of BC Hydro customers in Metro Vancouver are currently without power, as crews continue to respond and work to restore the outages.

According to its website, BC Hydro is estimating that the majority of power will be restored by 1:30 pm. The outage is reportedly being blamed on issues with a substation.
In the meantime, the company is encouraging customers to keep up-to-date via their mobile site.
