Metro Vancouver's first milk and brookie bar to open new bakery and cafe space

Brookies took Metro Vancouver by storm when co-owner and siblings Kayla and Brayden Harvey started selling these tasty creations at farmers’ markets and eventually opened the first milk and brookie bar in Willowbrook Mall. Now, the duo are expanding even further with a new bakery and cafe location.

Kayla told Dished that the first Bar Down Bakery and Cafe is coming to Fort Langley.

“This is truly a dream come true for us and we cannot wait for the day that we get to open the doors and welcome everyone for the first time,” said Kayla.

For those unfamiliar, a brookie is the perfect fusion between a brownie and a cookie, offering crispy golden brown edges (like a cookie) and a soft, indulgent center (just like a brownie).

Flavours include The Sin Bin (browned butter, milk chocolate, caramel, sea salt, and stuffed with salted caramel), He Shoots, He S’mores! (milk chocolate, graham cracker, and marshmallow), and Top Shelf (peanut butter and chocolate stuffed with an entire Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup).

Bar Down Bakery will offer the same delicious brookies you can find at Willowbrook Mall and online, alongside some new offerings.

Kayla teased that people can expect treats like croissants and muffins alongside cafe essentials like mochas and lattes. Additionally, customers can expect a rotating menu of unique specialized coffee and non-coffee-based beverages and some “top secret” hybrid baked goods (think cruffins and cronuts for example).

The new location will operate as an express location with no seating inside and limited outdoor bistro-style seating.

An exact opening date for Bar Down Bakery has yet to be revealed, but Kayla said customers can expect it to open sometime this summer.
