Bar Bravo to open in Vancouver later this summer
Vancouver’s about to get a new seafood-forward restaurant concept, and it’s opening in a notable location. Bar Bravo has taken over the former Ubuntu space at 4194 Fraser Street.
The 1,500 sq ft eatery is currently being renovated into a cool, 60-seat neighbourhood hangout and it’s eyeing an opening date in the not-so-distant future.

While this new spot will focus on fresh bounty from the water, owner-operator Jonathan Merrill tells Dished it won’t be a conventional seafood joint.
With years of experience at spots like Rodney’s Oyster House (Vancouver and Toronto), The Drake Hotel, and Trans Am, Merrill shares that this passion project has been a decade in the making and is an ode to his Maritime roots.
“Bar Bravo will feature raw oysters, crudo, dry-aged fish, freshly made pasta, a creative cocktail program, and a carefully curated wine list,” he says.
Other key players involved in this project include Partner Matthew Ryan and Partner/Contractor Nick Orr.

In addition to a menu of eats from Chef Jonah Joffe, when it comes to sips, expect everything from classic cocktails with a twist to tiki-style beverages.
The wine list will incorporate local and international bottles, as well as natural and low-intervention options too.

Bar Bravo’s space will feature a beautiful green marble bar top — perfect for oyster shucking and cocktail mixing.
Other interior highlights include warm wood, deep greens, and lots of brass accents. We’re also told a 30-seat patio is in the works for next year.
“Our space is much more like something you would see in New York or Chicago.”

This new spot is aiming to open its doors in mid-August. Once it has launched, you can find it open Wednesday to Sunday from 4 to 11 pm.
