Vancouver is getting a restaurant completely dedicated to hummus

First there was the all-avocado eatery, now, Vancouver’s getting one dedicated entirely to hummus, and it’s called Balila Taste Kitchen.

Named after Balila, a traditional Lebanese dish made of cumin and chickpeas, the new Gastown spot is all about this beloved dip and the dishes it can create.

The 1,000 square foot eatery is located at 47 West Hastings Street, the former space of The Smallflower Cafe.

The 16-seat Mediterranean restaurant promises 10 different kinds of hummus dips and “to-die-for” hummus wraps, along with soups, salads, and full rice or burgol-based meals too.

Balila will also offer a hummus soup – so there seems there’s going to be a variety of interesting morsels to dive into come opening day, which is January 15.

Patrons can expect healthy juices and non-alcoholic drinks to pair with their grub, which will be available during Balila’s opening hours of 10 am to 9 pm daily.
