A nail artist from Victoria has painted a manicure rendition of beloved Baby Yoda, the Disney Plus character who’s captured the hearts of people around the world.

Lana Sheen drew Baby Yoda’s giant eyes on her middle finger, and his even-bigger ears stretch onto the adjacent nails.

She’s loved Star Wars since she was a little girl, she told Daily Hive in a phone interview, and watches The Mandalorian every week with friends.

“Honestly [Baby Yoda] was just too cute not to,” she said.

The nail work took her five hours in total.

“I zone in and I have a little show or a twitch stream on in the background, and I just get focused,” she said.

The 22-year-old works at Deco De Mode Beauty Clinic in Victoria, and takes inspiration for many of her custom manicures from pop culture. Upcoming movies, favourite cartoons from childhood, or anything Disney can all pique her interest.

Sheen honed her craft at Vancouver’s Blanche MacDonald beauty school, but said she discovered her passion for nail art when she was in middle school. Jealous of another girl’s cheetah print manicure, Sheen went home that night and did her own — complete with an ombre flair.

“Every time I do nails I try to challenge myself more and more,” she said.
