Woman arrested after abandoned newborn baby found in critical condition

Police in Mission arrested a 21-year-old woman after a newborn baby was discovered abandoned near the 33600-block of Prentis Avenue this past Friday.

While details are slim at this point, Mission RCMP Insp. Annette Fuller told Daily Hive that the woman was later released and that no charges have been laid against her.

The baby remains in “critical condition” in hospital.

Police also did not disclose what the relationship is between the baby and the woman, but described the incident as “isolated.”

Fuller said that because the incident is active and ongoing, police will not be releasing any further information on the incident at this time.
