Arc’teryx has officially opened its new replacement and expanded flagship store at 1001 Robson St., taking over the prominent northwest corner of the intersection of Burrard and Robson streets, previously occupied by Roots.

The new 6,430 sq. ft. space grows the size of the downtown Vancouver flagship store by more than 50 per cent, compared to the now-closed previous nearby location of 813 Burrard St.

More than just a retail space, the renewed flagship store for the outdoor equipment and apparel retailer is said to serve as a “homecoming,” and a reaffirmation of the brand’s commitment to the Vancouver community.

With its larger footprint, the Robson/Burrard store features a more expansive showcase of Arc’teryx’s technical apparel and gear, including its well-known jackets, footwear, accessories, and climbing and hiking gear. The store has been designed with an elevated, modern retail experience in mind.

The move comes after Roots closed its longtime flagship store at this corner in early 2025, with the 1911-built building then undergoing major tenant improvements for Arc’teryx. It consolidates spaces previously occupied by both Roots and La Vie en Rose.

Earlier this summer, Roots opened a brand new replacement and expanded flagship store a block away next to Robson Square.

Arc’teryx’s expansion is part of a broader transformation of Robson Street’s retail landscape, which has recently welcomed other major flagship stores including Adidas and JD Sports.

The expansion of Arc’teryx’s downtown Vancouver flagship store follows the success of its original 4,060 sq. ft. location in the area at 813 Burrard St., which opened in 2017, replacing Le Chateau.

Signage posted on the windows of the now-closed original Arc’teryx flagship at 813 Burrard St. indicates the space will soon become a new Peak Performance store — another outdoor apparel and equipment brand owned by the same parent company as Arc’teryx.

Nearby, just to the north on Alberni Street, Canada’s second full-line Ralph Lauren store recently replaced Brooks Brothers.

And further north on West Georgia Street, construction continues to advance on the complete overhaul to the base of the Royal Centre office tower to provide a brand new and expanded office lobby, a new two-storey commercial addition for a 9,000 sq. ft. restaurant (which will also feature a 4,600 sq. ft. outdoor patio on its rooftop), a new 1,700 sq. ft. cafe, and a new canopy covering the entrance plaza area. It is expected to reach completion late this year.
