Anti-maskers verbally abuse staff, shove young bystander at Vancouver Pizza Pizza

Police are recommending charges to Crown Counsel after two men verbally abused staff members at a Pizza Pizza in Vancouver and pushed a young bystander outside the establishment.

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says that the incident occurred on Saturday, February 20, just before 11:30 pm.

Two men entered the Pizza Pizza located on 1893 Cornwall Avenue in Kitsilano. Police say that they were advised by staff that they couldn’t enter without masks and offered free ones.

“Both men then became verbally aggressive, swearing, and making racial slurs at staff,” Tania Visintina, VPD Spokesperson, tells Daily Hive.

“Staff then witnessed the men exit the store and begin pushing and shoving a younger person.”

Fortunately, a witness called the police. The two men took off in a vehicle but were tracked down minutes later.

Visintin says that impaired driving and assault charges are being recommended to Crown Counsel. Contrary to other media reports, Visintin notes that neither of the men was issued COVID-19 violation fines.

Daily Hive has reached out to Pizza Pizza for additional comment.
