'Amazing Race' making Vancouver debut at several popular spots

The new season of The Amazing Race premieres on Wednesday, Sept. 30, and Vancouver fans are excited as the city is playing an important role in the reality competition.
The 15-time Emmy-winning show hosted by Phil Keoghan is kicking off Season 39 in downtown Vancouver.
Keoghan welcomed this season’s racers as well as fans from the Jack Poole Plaza in Coal Harbour in a recent promo video posted to social media.
“Is everybody ready to race?”

The hype video for the CBS original series shows Amazing Race participants bungee jump off of the world’s second-largest four-sided centre-hung HD video board inside BC Place.
Another clip shows a team flying over Vancouver in a Harbour Air plane.
And photos posted on the official social media channels include teams kayaking in Burrard Inlet.

Jack Poole Plaza is home to the Olympic Cauldron from the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
It is also home to the annual Vancouver Christmas Market, a popular German-style holiday event featuring plenty of artisans and makers at over 90 wooden huts.
BC Place was also recently named among the world’s 20 best stadiums for concerts and live music.

This will be only the third time that The Amazing Race has stopped in Canada, and the first time in Vancouver.
In Season 8, released in 2005, teams flew to Montreal to try and find a clue in the Underground City by the Square-Victoria Metro Station.
In 2004, competitors in Season 5 travelled to Calgary and had to choose between a luge ride on an Olympic course or a mountain bike challenge through a snowy slalom ski course to get their next clue.
