Alleged theft attempt targets teenage student walking to school: RCMP

Police are investigating after an attempted theft targeting a teenager that took place earlier this week.

According to a police statement from the University RCMP, the victim, a student, was walking to school on Thursday morning, at approximately 7:15 am.

She was in the Acadia Road area when she was allegedly “approached by a male from behind who attempted to steal her backpack.”

A suspect description was not made available in the police statement.

Fortunately, no injuries were sustained by the victim. Police are asking anyone who was in the area or that has information to share to contact the University RCMP at 604-223-1322.

Police are also reminding the public to be aware of their surroundings.
