He was the last player to score a goal for the Vancouver Whitecaps before their season ended.

Now? He’s continued to score before the ‘Caps season even begins.

Toronto native Ali Ahmed probably couldn’t have scripted a better start for his career with Norwich City FC of the Championship League in England, which is one tier below the Premier League.

Eight minutes into his first match with Norwich City against the Ryan Reynolds-owned Wrexham FC squad, Ahmed assisted on a goal by Denmark native Anis Ben Slimane.

Ahmed played the entirety of the first half before being subbed out in a 2-1 win for Norwich City.

Just three days later, he continued the dream start to his professional football career in England.

In the backdrop of heaving rain, the 25-year-old scored in the 49th minute for Norwich, the first of four second-half goals for his squad in a 5-0 win over West Bromwich Albion.

“It’s been a special week,” Ahmed said after Norwich City FC’s huge 5-0 win over West Brom on Tuesday.

“The guys, from top to bottom, they’ve been making me feel very welcome, and it’s been making my job easy on the field. It’s a great group of guys.”

Not only has Ahmed made a great first impression with his new club, but fans were even chanting his name. Keep in mind, Norwich City was playing an away game in West Bromwich when fans serenaded Ahmed.

“Goosebumps, man. Goosebumps,” he said.

“You kind of dream of moments like this…scoring a goal and then seeing the fans sing a chant for me was special. I really, really appreciate that.”

Following the announcement of Ahmed’s transfer was a report that he had signed a four-year deal with Norwich City. That includes a fifth-year club option for 2030.

Ahmed will play his first home game for Norwich City on Monday, Jan. 26, when they host the Championship-leading Coventry City Football Club.
