Alberta sees third coronavirus death, 40 new cases confirmed

The Province of Alberta announced its third COVID-19-related death, along with 40 additional cases on Sunday, bringing the province’s total number of cases to 661.

Of these cases, there have been 41 hospitalizations, with 14 admissions to intensive care units (ICU), and three deaths reported.

The news of the third death comes after Alberta saw its first death related to coronavirus on March 19, with a man in his 60s dying after being admitted to the ICU in Edmonton on March 12.

Alberta’s second death was a woman in her 80s who had resided at the McKenzie Towne Continuing Care Centre in Calgary.

The new death in Alberta brings Canada’s total fatalities up to 65 as of March 29.
