Over the past weekend, an Air Canada flight that departed from Vancouver was rerouted as the result of a medical emergency.

According to a spokesperson at Air Canada, Flight AC035 departed from the YVR International Airport on January 10, en route to Brisbane, Australia.

The flight was forced to divert to Honolulu, Hawaii, because of a medical emergency. There were 257 customers and 13 crew members on board at the time.

Air Canada says in an email that hotels and food vouchers were provided before passengers departed on a different flight the next day.

The company was unable to provide exact information regarding the nature of the emergency.

“Out of respect for the privacy of our customers, Air Canada cannot confirm the details of the medical emergency,” says a spokesperson.
