Adult indoor sports, high-intensity workout classes allowed to resume in BC

Adult indoor sports and high-intensity workout classes will be allowed in BC again starting tomorrow.

The announcement was made on Monday morning when the provincial government shared details around Step 2 of its COVID-19 restart plan.

Indoor adult sports such as ice hockey and basketball have been suspended since early December, when the province struggled with high COVID-19 case numbers.

High-intensity group fitness activities such as hot yoga, spin classes, aerobics, Bootcamp, circuit training, and high-intensity interval training were paused.

They will now be permitted in BC after being on hold for over six months.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry also announced on Monday that a limited number of spectators would be allowed to watch outdoor sporting events, meaning that a parent or family member can watch a child play sports outdoors.
