A hit-and-run left a 17-year-old male with life-threatening injuries in Richmond on Saturday night.

According to a release from the Richmond RCMP, police responded to several reports of disturbance shortly after 11:25 p.m. on Jan. 10,  in the 4200 block of No.3 Road in Richmond.

Police found the victim unconscious and breathing. Emergency Health services transported him to the hospital, where he remains in “critical condition.”

Police say that the hit-and-run followed an “altercation” near the roadway, and they are also investigating “an alleged assault causing bodily harm related to that altercation.”

The suspect vehicle did not remain on scene, and police believe it was a dark 2014 to 2019 Ford Fiesta, likely with damage to its front end.

Anyone who witnessed the event or who has dashcam footage is asked to contact the Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 and quote file number 2026-1055.

“Failing to remain at the scene after a collision is a serious offence,” says Constable Rae Hu, investigator with Richmond RCMP Serious Crime Unit.
