16-year-old arrested after Vancouver taxi driver stabbed in Downtown Eastside

A 16-year-old has been arrested for the alleged stabbing of a taxi driver in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside last night.
The Vancouver Police Department announced that they made the arrest on Tuesday, March 18, around 9:30 p.m.
An off-duty VPD officer witnessed the stabbing near the intersection of Main Street and Hastings Street.
“The officer then contacted on-duty VPD members, who responded immediately and took the suspect into custody,” said the VPD in a release.

Police added that the 59-year-old cab driver sustained a non-life-threatening injury and was taken to hospital to be treated.
The teenager, a resident of Richmond, is currently in custody for aggravated assault.
