Man arrested after allegedly assaulting nurse at Metro Vancouver hospital

A 37-year-old Surrey man has been arrested for allegedly physically assaulting a nurse at a Metro Vancouver hospital earlier this month.

According to a release from Langley RCMP, officers were called to Langley Memorial Hospital to respond to an assault in progress at about 12:15 a.m. on March 8.

Once on scene, officers located hospital security, who were engaged with the suspect for physically assaulting the nurse. According to police, the suspect had also produced an “edged weapon” during the incident.

The suspect was arrested for assault and assault with a weapon. He was released from police custody and will appear in court at a later date.

In a release, Sgt. Zynal Sharoom with Langley RCMP said the occurrence was “deeply concerning, not only for the community but also for hospital staff who are simply doing their best to provide health care to everyone.”

Sharoom confirmed that no one was hurt as a result of the incident.

Langley RCMP is asking anyone with information about the incident who has not yet spoken with authorities to contact the Langley RCMP and quote file 2025-6823.
