A York Regional Police (YRP) officer has been charged with fraud over allegations he worked as a realtor during his scheduled hours with the police force.

Const. Jamil Saade, 30, has been charged with Fraud under $5,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on August 3. He worked in the City of Markham.

The charges come after a Professional Standards Bureau began an investigation into him during the spring of 2021. Investigators believe he spent some of his shift time doing realtor work.

Saade has been an officer with YRP since 2013 and was paid a $112,000 salary in 2020, according to the Sunshine List. The Sunshine List displays his name as Jamil Antonio Saade and Jamile Saade Housh in two separate entries for different years.

Real Estate brokerage Century 21 has a page describing realtor Antonio Saade, and realtor.ca also lists an agent in Markham named Antonio Saade Housh.

Daily Hive has reached out to Century 21 for comment and will update this story according.
