Where to celebrate World Vegan Day in Toronto

Oct 31 2019, 9:28 pm

November 1 is World Vegan Day, serving as an excellent reason to celebrate all the goodness of plant-forward foods.

And lucky for you, Toronto has a plethora of options.

Whether you prefer to indulge in meat-free burgers or scrumptious salads, there are lots of spots across the city that are serving the goods, today and every day.

Here’s where to celebrate World Vegan Day in Toronto this year:

Fresh

Once a diamond in the rough of a city with few vegan options, Fresh has become one of the original institutions representing a plant-based lifestyle. Burgers, wraps, sandwiches, tacos, and big bowls of plant-based goodness are at your fingertips, and you can sip on an MCT matcha or superfood smoothie on the side.

This spot’s serving up fresh eats and delicious drinks. Enjoy Japanese curry, spicy shishito peppers and wasabi avocado dip with rice crackers. Wash down your meal with a turmeric latte, a kinako latte, or a refreshing kombucha. Yep. Uh-huh.

A classic. Waffles? Check! Bowls? Check! Hot drinks? Check! Sweets? Check! Everything you need, K&K are offering. Sit down and relax or take your food to go — either way, you’ll feel fueled up to take on the day after eating here.

Hello 123

Little sister to K&K, Hello 123 is a sit-down-stay-a-while type of spot. Pulled pineapple sliders, watermelon ceviche, avocado toast, and kimchi burgers are all mouthwatering items you’ll find on the menu. But if there’s one thing we must recommend, it’s Tyler’s Tempeh Sandwich. Sourdough, tempeh, tomato, avo, beets, carrots, arugula, coconut bacon, red onion, aioli, a side salad, and roasted home fries. You’re welcome.

Think fresh kombucha, creative cocktails, and tacos so good you won’t miss the meat, making for an ideal dinner spot. Most of the plates are made for sharing… including the churros, served with warm chocolate banana caramel. In support of World Vegan Day, this spot will be donating a portion of all sales from November 1 to Environmental Defence Canada.
From 11 am to 11 pm, every item sold will contribute directly to helping defend Canadian freshwaters and reversing the effects of climate change.

Bloomer’s

Oh, baby. Bloomer’s is the stuff when you want a sweet-fix, but if you’re opting for more “healthy” choices, they’ve got you on that front too. Bowls on bowls on bowls on burgers. And, you ought to consider their poutine, because it’s made with mushroom gravy and sunflower seed cheese… so it’s essentially salad.
