Woman charged after death of 4-year-old boy left in hot car in Etobicoke

Toronto police have arrested and charged a 50-year-old woman after a young boy was found dead in a car in Etobicoke on Thursday afternoon.

According to police, on 1 pm on September 21, officers responded to a call for an ambulance in the Mill Road and Burnhamthorpe Avenue area.

Upon arrival, police say a 4-year-old boy had been left in a car. When he was located, the boy was unconscious and was rushed to the hospital, but he child succumbed to injuries.

A post mortem examination is scheduled for Friday, September 22.

Police have charged Toronto resident Zeljna Kosovac with criminal negligence causing death. Reports indicate that Zosovac was the young boy’s nanny.

Zosovac is scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Friday, September 22, at 10 am.

The temperature on Thursday was 26°C, but it felt more like 31°C in Toronto.
