Vince Carter is wearing Raptors-inspired shoes again

After debuting vintage Toronto Raptors-inspired shoes on Wednesday, some fans are dreaming of Vince Carter coming full circle.

Carter, who now plays for the Atlanta Hawks, was wearing Raptors-inspired Nike Shox BB4 for his team’s game against the San Antonio Spurs. The 42-year-old has been wearing BB4s throughout this season – the same shoes he wore during the Sydney 2000 Olympics – as a tribute to his famous dunk over 7-foot-2 French centre Frederic Weis.

“The success of the dunk started the legend of the shoes,” Carter told Nike in November. “But I myself went to another level with them, too. I became a star player in the BB4.”

As long as Carter is feeling nostalgic, perhaps he’d like a return to the city where he rose to stardom?

It’s something that some Raptors fans, who have long since made up with their first superstar, are dreaming about.

Despite his advanced age, Carter says he’s not done playing.

“I think I could stretch it out one more,” Carter said in an interview with ESPN’s Pardon the Interruption, adding that he assesses his career at the end of every season.

“I think I can give it another year. So, why not? We’ll see what happens.”

Now on his eighth NBA team, Carter has appeared in 61 games this season, averaging 7.1 points, 1.0 assists, and 2.5 rebounds in 16.6 minutes per game.

Carter played seven seasons for the Raptors before being traded to the New Jersey Nets in 2004.
