These are the 5 restaurants that make up Toronto's 'Vegandale'
Parkdale might be forever, but there’s no denying that ‘Vegandale’ is making its mark on the neighbourhood, and plant-eaters from all across the land are being drawn to this pocket of Queen West.
These are the five spots that make up the other ‘dale of Toronto.
Mythology Diner

Chef Doug McNish is in the kitchen of this classic-diner gone plant-based, whipping out vegan versions of runny egg yolks and steak dinners. Here, you can get your fill of wings, cheeseburgers, mac and cheese and french toast, all made without any animal products. Mythology is ideal for Friday night indulgences and Sunday mornings when you’re definitely feeling the night before.

Doomie’s

This is a spot for comfort food with a twist. Tuck into satisfying snacks like deep-fried avocado, fried mac and cheese balls or jalapeño poppers. Mains include the waffle-que (not-pork alllll over a waffle), a peanut butter and bacon burger, and the off-menu favourite: a very Big Mac-esque burg, done totally vegan of course.

Not Your Mother

This non-ice cream spot is sweet, obviously, but it’s also serving up some spicy sass to ensure that its moral point is getting across. The cold confections are served alongside the message that if it’s not your mother, it’s not your milk. A memorable statement, punchy aesthetic and delicious-looking treats will have you coming by for a cone, even in the middle of winter.

These beers carry moral messages… in their make, and also in their names. Vegan craft beers with names like “Principled Pilsner” and “Shining Example Stout” are served alongside snacks from the same kitchen as Doomie’s, making this an ideal spot to hang out post-work, pre-party, mid-game… or any time at all, really.
