Toronto steakhouse shutters after more than 30 years of business

Jan 2 2020, 8:42 pm

We’re only two days into the new year, and the restaurant closure trend of the previous one continues.

The Tulip Steakhouse, located just north of Woodbine Park, announced its closure on Facebook on the first of the year.

“It is with great sadness that we must announce that The Tulip has closed,” reads the post announcing the spot’s departure. “Unfortunately, business conditions have changed regarding our lease agreement in ways we can no longer accommodate, and we have been left with no choice.”

Known for steak and other comforting eats, the landmark diner’s announcement has racked up over 350 comments, many of which offer words of sadness.

This may not be the last the city sees from the folks behind the eatery though.

Only time will tell what it means, but the post ends with the sentiment: “While this may be the end of this chapter, a new one is only a page turn away.”
