Several TTC subway station closures scheduled this weekend

If you’ll be needing to take the subway this weekend, be sure to plan ahead, because there will be no service on a section of Line 1 on Sunday.

On May 10, there will be no subway service on the portion of Line 1 between Lawrence and St Clair stations, to allow TTC crews to continue installation and testing of the Automatic Train Control (ATC) signalling system.

The TTC says that replacement shuttle buses will run along Yonge Street, stopping at each station along the route, and staff will be present to direct customers to shuttle boarding and offloading locations — these will vary from station to station.

In addition to the shuttles, the 97 Yonge bus and the University side of Line 1 will be available during the closure as alternative routes.

All stations will remain open for PRESTO fare sales and access to surface routes.

As Lawrence Station is not yet accessible, customers requiring an accessible connection are encouraged to use York Mills Station instead. Further, those who require Wheel-Trans service can speak with any TTC customer service staff member for assistance.

“While the TTC does most subway maintenance at the conclusion of service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and ATC upgrades,” the transit operator said.
