It’s a sad day for fans of T&T Supermarket, as the store has announced the impending closure of its only downtown Toronto location.

The popular Asian grocer will be leaving its home at 222 Cherry Street on January 30, 2020, as part of a major reconfiguration of the city’s Port Lands.

“Despite the upcoming closure, we are happy we can serve our downtown Toronto customers through one last Chinese New Year, which falls on January 25th this year,” said Samuel Lee, Store Manager, in a release.

“We are committed to providing the same level service and quality products our customers have come to expect from T&T until our last day so our customers can celebrate Chinese New Year 2020 with all their favourite Asian foods.”

Reportedly, the retailer is actively seeking a new location in the downtown area.

However, if you can’t wait until the new store is up and running to get your fix, you’ll be in luck come January. Beginning next month, the T&T Supermarket will offer online shopping.

More details can be expected to drop on the online store in the weeks to come.

In the meantime, T&T is happy to announce that downtown Toronto customers will be able to shop their store online beginning this January. Additional details to follow in the coming weeks.

“We are truly saddened to leave this location, but are committed to serving our downtown customers despite the closure. That’s why I’m happy to announce this new and exciting online shopping experience and look forward to sharing more details with you in the new year,” said Tina Lee, the brand’s CEO.
