There was a massive Wolf Moon visible over Toronto last night (PHOTOS)

Toronto was able to kick off the New Year on a bright note, as a massive Wolf Moon lit up the night sky on January 1.

Often referred to as a Supermoon, this special lunar display essentially occurs when the moon is at its closest point to the earth during its orbit.

Because of this, the moon appears 14% bigger and 30% brighter than typical full moons – giving Toronto residents an incredible sight to see.
