It’s been a busy morning for Toronto Hydro as crews work to restore power to several areas in Toronto following torrential rains last night.
According to Twitter, approximately 16,000 customers were affected in Toronto’s north end when Toronto Hydro lost its power supply from Hydro One yesterday.
We’ve lost our power supply from @HydroOne . They are investigating the cause of the outage. Customers in the following area may be affected: Steeles south to Sheppard and Islington over to Dufferin. Approx 16,000 customers out.

Meanwhile, Toronto residents in the Bloor St. W/Harbord/Havelock/Spadina area, as well as near Davenport/Symington also experienced power outages in the wake of the storm.
While power has been restored in many areas already, residents in the Gerrard/Queen St. E/River St. area are still without power (going on 15 hours at time of publishing) due to “extensive damage caused by flooding,” and repairs are taking longer than expected.

Toronto Hydro estimates that it won’t be until at least 3 pm until power is restored to the area.
