With a heat warning already in effect for the City of Toronto, Environment Canada has also just issued a severe thunderstorm watch for this afternoon and evening.

According to the weather agency:
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
Earlier this week, an intense downfall left parts of the city flooded, with dramatic photos of cars having to be pulled from submerged off-ramps on highway 401.
