TTC closures and diversions taking place this weekend

Jun 1 2017, 1:03 am

The first weekend of June is almost upon us, which means, the TTC has yet another closure planned.

On June 3 and 4, the TTC will continue installing and testing the new Automatic Train Control (ATC) signal system, which will require closing Line 1 between St George and Sheppard West stations.

Because of on-street construction around Eglinton West, St Clair West and Dupont stations, shuttle buses will run between Sheppard West and Lawrence West stations only. To supplement shuttle service and move customers more efficiently to the Yonge St. side of Line 1, the TTC is doubling service on nine east-west bus and streetcar routes in the closure area.

Surface routes with extra service are:
– 7 Bathurst
– 14 Glencairn
– 32 Eglinton West
– 52 Lawrence West
– 84 Sheppard West
– 96 Wilson
– 109 Ranee
– 127 Davenport
– 512 St Clair

To provide better bus service, parking will be restricted on Bathurst St. between Bloor St. and Barton Ave. and extra subways will be added for those attending the Toronto Blue Jays games both days.

Dupont and Glencairn stations will be closed. All other stations will be open for fare sales and access to surface vehicles. During the closure, crews will perform essential train testing of the new ATC system between Spadina and Sheppard West stations in preparation for the opening of the Line 1 extension to York Region.

This is the sixth of 11 closures on this portion of Line 1 in 2017, according to the TTC.

Regular subway service resumes Monday at 6 am.

The next scheduled subway closures are:

June 10-11 – Line 2 Bloor-Danforth: St George to Broadview for City and TTC work on the Prince Edward (Bloor) Viaduct.
June 17-18 – Line 1 Yonge-University: St George to Sheppard West (formerly Downsview) for ATC work.
June 24-25 – Line 3 Scarborough: McCowan to Kennedy stations for track, infrastructure and life extension work.

Also keep in mind, several street festivals will be taking place and some streetcars will be rerouted.
