All the road closures in Toronto this long weekend: August 31 to September 3

It wouldn’t be a long weekend in Toronto without some road closures.

According to the City of Toronto, there are four events and a TTC streetcar track replacement scheduled that will disrupt traffic this weekend.

Here’s a breakdown of this weekend’s road closures:

Fan Expo Canada

The Front Street West south curb lane between John Street and Simcoe Street, Bremner Boulevard north curb lane between Lower Simcoe Street and the Metro Toronto Convention Centre driveway, and Lower Simcoe Street west curb lane from Front Street West to Bremner Boulevard will be closed at the following times for the Fan Expo Canada event:

  • Thursday, August 30 from 8 am to 11 pm
  • Friday, August 31 and Saturday, September 1 from 8 am to 8 pm
  • Sunday, September 2 from 8 am to 6 pm

Buskerfest

Coxwell Avenue east curb lane and shoulder from Eastern Avenue to Lake Shore Boulevard East will be closed from Friday, August 31 at 6 am to Monday, September 3 at midnight.

Labour Day Parade

On Monday, September 3 from 7 am to 12:30 pm, the following downtown road closures are scheduled:

  • University Avenue between Dundas Street West and Richmond Street
  • Queen Street West from west of Bay Street to east of University Avenue
  • Armoury Street from Chestnut Street to University Avenue
  • Centre Street from Dundas Street West to Armoury Street
  • York Street from Queen Street West to Richmond Street West

Also on Monday, September 3, Liberty Street from Dufferin Street to Jefferson Avenue, and Jefferson Avenue from King Street West to Liberty Street will be closed from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm to accommodate the parade dispersal area.

Toronto Fashion Week

The north curb lane and north sidewalk on Yorkville Avenue fronting the Hazelton Hotel and Yorkville Village will be closed from Sunday, September 2 at midnight to Friday, September 7 at 11 pm.

Hazelton Avenue will also be closed from Yorkville Avenue to the Hazelton Hotel driveway south of Scollard Street from Monday, September 3 at midnight until Friday, September 7 at 11 pm.

Track repairs

In addition to these events, a streetcar track replacement will also cause a road closure in the area of Dundas and Lansdowne.

According to the TTC, streetcar track replacements at the intersection of Dundas and Lansdowne will begin on Sunday, September 2.

A full closure of the intersection will begin at 5 am on Sunday, September 2 to 6 am on Friday, October 5.
