The Toronto Raptors were able to make one final move ahead of the trade deadline this afternoon.
As first reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Raptors have acquired James Wiseman and cash from the Indiana Pacers. In return, the Pacers will receive a top-55 protected second-round pick.

Wiseman, who is just 23 years old, has had a disappointing career to this point. The centre was taken second overall by the Golden State Warriors in 2020, but has seen his career derailed by injuries thus far. He’s currently out for the year with a torn left Achilles tendon, which he suffered in the Pacers’ season opener.
Prior to signing with the Pacers this past summer, Wiseman spent parts of two seasons with the Detroit Pistons. The 2023-24 campaign saw him appear in a career-high 63 games, where he averaged 7.1 points along with 5.3 rebounds. He has a team option for next season, which, if the Raptors choose to use it, would carry a cap hit of roughly $2.55 million.
The Raptors are all done with their moves now after what’s been a busy period. They got things started last night with a major trade that saw them acquire former All-Star Brandon Ingram from the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Bruce Brown Jr., Kelly Olynyk, a first-round pick and a second-round pick.
This morning, they made another move, sending 24-year-old point guard Davion Mitchell to the Miami Heat in exchange for P.J. Tucker, a second-round pick, and cash. Tucker, who carries a cap hit of $11.5 million, is expected to be bought out.
One player the Raptors wound up holding onto is Chris Boucher, the organization’s longest-tenured player. The 32-year-old — who is set to become a UFA this offseason — was expected to be on the moveĀ but will wind up finishing out the 2024-25 campaign with the rebuilding Raps.
