Another member of the Toronto Police (TPS) has tested positive for COVID-19.

The individual, a police officer from 14 Division, notified supervisors earlier this week on March 26.

Meaghan Gray, TPS Spokesperson, tells Daily Hive the force is currently working with health authorities to reach all of the individual’s close contacts.

She also says that they’re making sure adequate cleaning measures are taken.

“We are working with public health authorities who are conducting an in-depth investigation related to the individual and their contacts,” she wrote in an emailed statement. “All proper notifications were made and immediate steps were taken.”

“Enhanced cleaning measures, such as additional surface cleaning in frequently accessed areas, have been undertaken as has been recommended by public health officials.”

Those who work closely with the police officer have been told to self-monitor for any symptoms and to take all necessary safety precautions.

This individual is the second member of the TPS to test positive for coronavirus, the first being a civilian from headquarters.
