Following news that there will be more money put towards tackling gun and gang violence in Toronto, police have issued a vague, yet alarming alert.
Around 9:30 am on Thursday, the official Toronto Police account simply tweeted, “We are responding to an unconfirmed, uncorroborated piece of information relating to the GTA. As a result of this information, you will see an increased number of police officers throughout the city and, specifically, in the downtown core.”

There was no additional information provided at the time.
The police tweet has been shared almost 400 times in under an hour, with many residents voicing concerns over what it may mean.
To the pple complain this is too vague… the threat might be just as vague. Sure some pple might feel panic but it’s better to let pple be alert, maybe someone will see this and phone in a tip that will prevent an event.

This is very vague.. is it a threat of some kind or not?? I understand not wanting to cause a panic but you have a responsibility to relay any crucial information regarding safety to the public

Daily Hive reached out to Toronto Police, who said that “the tweet was posted inform to public of an increased police around the city.”
Police also said there was nothing further to add at this time.
Premier Doug Ford issued a statement saying the province is aware of the reported potential threat to Toronto.
“While the information is unsubstantiated, the Premier has been briefed by the Provincial Security Advisor and is actively monitoring the situation,” tweeted Ford’s office.
