As Toronto prepares for Stage 2 of reopening, residents can get ready to escape the heat at one of the city’s pools.

The City has told Daily Hive that outdoor pools are set to welcome the public this Friday, June 26. The remainder of pools will open Saturday, June 27, though they will be subject to conditions.

Water recreational services will be reopening. This includes splash pads, wading pools, and, indoor and outdoor pools.

Community centres will also be opening but for very limited and modified uses. This will include certain outdoor sports and recreational activities, day camp, pools and splash pads. It will also include spray pads, wading pools, and indoor activities and services other than non-aquatic indoor sports and recreational fitness activities.

According to the province’s framework, all indoor and outdoor swimming pools and outdoor splash pads and wading pools may open in Stage 2. There will be no access to high-contact aquatic features such as slides and climbing structures.

All waterparks, wave pools, and water slides will not be permitted to reopen during Stage 2.

The province has also said that all change rooms and showers will be able to reopen to the public if operators are able to sanitize and disinfect facilities.

This follows the opening of six of Toronto’s beaches on Monday.
