A man has been arrested following a road rage incident that resulted in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 401 early Monday morning.
As a result of the crash, five people were sent to the hospital, two with critical injuries, one being a female driver and one being a 17-month-old baby girl who currently remains in critical condition with serious injuries.
Two other children and another adult were also sent to the hospital.
According to the OPP, the accident took place just after midnight as a result of a road rage incident between two vehicles, which resulted in a minor collision in the eastbound lane near the Leslie Street exit on Highway 401 in Toronto.
This was followed by an “unexpected massive collision” by a third vehicle that approached the collision from behind.
Provincial police say a 59-year-old man from Toronto has been arrested and is facing two charges of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
He is currently being held in custody for a bail hearing on Wednesday.

Sgt. Kerry Schmidt of the OPP says more information will be available following the bail hearing.
Sgt. Schmidt also added that there’s, “no place for road range anywhere in our society, on our highways, and where we share our roads.”
