Metro has disclosed that an eighth employee of the grocer’s Vicker’s Distribution Centre has been diagnosed with COVID-19.

The first case at the location was identified on May 4, with new instances being disclosed throughout the rest of May, all of June, and now into July.

In the most recent circumstance, Metro was reportedly notified on July 6, and the staff member last worked at the centre, located at 25 Vickers Road in Etobicoke, on July 4.

Already this week, Metro has disclosed additional new employee cases of the illness — two cases were recently confirmed at 2225 Erin Mills Parkway in Mississauga, and another at the West Mall Distribution Centre.

Those employees last worked on June 27 and 28, and July 5, respectively.

Prior to these new developments, Metro has disclosed cases of coronavirus at locations including Parkway Mall, West Queen West, Bloor and Spadina, College and Shaw, The Cold Chain Produce Distribution Centre, and others.

“We will always contact and follow the guidance of Public Health to ensure the safety of our teammates and customers whenever we are made aware of a confirmed case of COVID-19 in one of our food stores or distribution centres,” reads Metro’s website.

The grocer says its online tracker is continually being updated in an effort to keep the public aware of where cases have been confirmed.
