If views of soaring condo buildings and busy streets aren’t your thing, then this Toronto houseboat surrounded by beautiful waterscapes may be right up your alley.

The one-bedroom houseboat, located at Bluffer’s Park Marina at the Scarborough Bluffs Park, is perfect for someone wanting to be near the city but still feel surrounded by nature.

And the listing price makes it even more attractive. It’s currently on the market for $339,000, which is significantly cheaper than your average Toronto one-bedroom condo.

“This property is a great alternative to residential condos and homes for an adventure-seeking buyer who wants something different,” Zoocasa agent Rahim Khalifa told Daily Hive. “It’s located in a small community of 25 other floating homes in Bluffer’s Park Marina.”

The 499 sq ft houseboat has a cozy front deck, perfect for sitting out in the morning with a coffee and watching the ducks go by. Its proximity to the Scarborough Bluffs also provides many walking trails that are just a few steps away.

Inside, the houseboat is decked out with wood finishes, giving it an upscale cottage feel. Circular windows throughout the property add to the nautical theme.

The kitchen is fairly spacious and comes with a fridge and a four-burner stove. It is, however, lacking an oven and a dishwasher.

The bedroom is lofted upstairs, but it has plenty of room and tons of windows that let in an abundance of natural light.

This isn’t the first time this Toronto houseboat has been on the market recently. It was listed in July 2020 for $325,000 and stayed on the market for 100 days before a deal to purchase it fell through, Khalifa said. It was re-listed one month ago with the new $339,000 price tag.

“In comparison to other home prices, this is a bargain; however, a prospective buyer should consider that it will require specialty financing from a boat lender as a traditional mortgage will not be an option, mooring costs, and the suitability to their lifestyle,” Khalifa said.

“This home would be great for a single buyer or couple following the floating home and tiny home movement. It could also be a fantastic pied-à-terre for the right buyer or an investor that wants to enjoy the property and rent it out to others when not there.”

So if you’ve always wanted to live right by the water, you can’t really get any closer than this.
