Last month, Toronto took the top spot for the most expensive average rent in the country.

For the month of August, the average one-bedroom rent went up $10 to $2,300 — surpassing last month’s record of $2,290. Two bedrooms remained flat at an average price of $2,850.

But don’t let this discourage you from entering the rental market, because there are still listings in the GTA that won’t cost you a small fortune — you just need to know where to look to find some of the cheapest rentals in the city.
