Toronto artists are trolling the city with outlandish proposals for new condos
Has Toronto’s condo boom finally gone too far?
Does a proposal for a 40-storey residential tower sticking out of the CN Tower make you even bat an eye?
Sure it’s absurd (not to mention structurally impossible), but in the 6ix, where the constant roar of “progress” is a deafening daily inconvenience, it’s not impossible that many might take the satirical signs erected by Toronto artists Glo’erm and Tuggy at face value.
The”urban interventionists” have published a series of outlandish ideas in the style of official City of Toronto development proposals. Among them, a 50-storey condo tower plunked right in the middle of city hall, two towers rising from the pedestal of the Sky Dome and 90 units perched atop OCADU’s iconic floating structure.
The ideas are crazy, implausible and totally undesirable for sure. But then again, this fantasy world includes a lot of new parking, so… we’re not totally against it.
