Toronto Zoo 45th Anniversary

What: In honour of its 45th anniversary, the Toronto Zoo is offering visitors 45% off admission today. There will be a number of special anniversary events for visitors to check out throughout the day including a number of animal feedings, in addition to celebratory birthday eats to enjoy. Plus, visitors can explore the zoo until late, as part of Dusk to Dawn Thursdays, which keeps the grounds open from 9 am to 9 pm.

Toronto Public Library Clearance Book Sale

What: A massive book sale is taking place at the Toronto Reference Library from Thursday to Saturday. Items for sale include over 10,000 CDs and books, priced from just 10 cents to $1, with the highest pricing listed around $5 and the majority of materials priced at $1.

When: August 15 to 17
Time: August 15 at 9:30 am to sell-out or 6:30 pm (whichever comes first), Friday, August 16 at 9 am to sell-out or 6:30 pm (whichever comes first), and August 17 at 9 am to 4:00 pm

Burger Drops Summer

What: Calling all burger buffs! You can enjoy unlimited burgers and $4 brews tonight at Spaces Queen West for the biggest burger drop yet.  Your ticket includes unlimited burgers and entry to the event.

Summer Music in the Garden

What: The Summer Music in the Garden concert series will kick off in honour of the Toronto Music Garden’s 20th anniversary, and will feature 18 free concerts of classical, traditional and world music, including a concert on August 25 that will feature the Music Garden’s “theme song,” Bach’s Suite no. 1 in G Major for solo cello.

Bell Manor Park Summer Movies

What: For the first year, the Toronto Outdoor Picture Show will be offering screenings at Bell Manor Park. The Dynamic Duo theme stretches to this location as well and will screen Nora Ephron’s 90s romantic comedy You’ve Got Mail. 

When: Beginning August 8 and runs until August 22
Time: Films begin at sundown
