Health Canada has issued a recall on nearly 700 snowblowers that could potentially injure users.
Roll pins may fail on Toro Power Max 826 OHAE snow throwers, which could result in the auger and impeller spinning at full speed any time the engine is running.
The company says the auger can “fail to disengage when the control lever is released, posing an amputation hazard.”
Canada’s federal health agency said, “Consumers should immediately stop using their machine and contact a Toro Authorized Service Dealer.”
The Canada-wide recall involves the Model Year 2021 Toro Power Max 826 OHAE snow thrower with model number 37802 and UPC 021038378022. The model number and UPC can be found on a sticker at the rear of the snow thrower.

Affected products were manufactured in Juarez, Mexico, between September 21, 2020, and December 29, 2020. Toro Power Max 826 OHAE snowblowers were sold at The Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Toro Authorized Dealers across Canada, and through the company’s website for roughly $1,200.
Toro says 679 units of the affected product were sold in Canada from November 2020 to January 21, 2021.
A complete list of serial numbers included in the recall, along with the location of the serial number, is available on the Toro website.
As of January 26, 2021, the company has received four reports of missing roll pins in Canada and no reported injuries.
