"Immediately unplug": Health Canada recalls over 11,000 tables

Over 11,000 tables have been recalled by Health Canada due to an electrical hazard.

The affected products were sold across Canada at Winners, Marshalls, and HomeSense from May 2019 to December 2019.

According to Health Canada, the charging receptacles or USB ports built into the side tables “may contain an electrical issue resulting in reverse polarity, posing an electric shock hazard to the consumer.”

Consumers should “immediately unplug the recalled side accent tables,” says the federal health agency. Consumers are asked to contact Jimco Lamp & Manufacturing Company for a refund or replacement product.

The company has reported that 11,070 units of the affected product were sold in Canada and 95,686 were sold in the United States.

As of January 22, 2021, Health Canada or Jimco Lamp & Manufacturing Company have reported zero incidents or injuries in both Canada and the US.

The recalled side tables are labelled on the back or bottom of the unit with the affected item numbers and date codes. The affected manufacturing date codes include all codes within the range 04/2019 to 11/2019.
