More GTA Shoppers Drug Mart employees test positive for COVID-19

Four Shoppers Drug Mart locations in Toronto and the GTA have reported several COVID-19 cases among their staff as of October 26.

According to Loblaws Ltd., on October 24, an employee at the Shoppers Drug Mart location at 4630 Highway 7 East in Unionville reported a positive COVID-19 test. They had last worked on October 22.

On October 25, a Shoppers Drug Mart location at 524 Queen Street West reported a positive case among one of their staff members. They had last worked on October 22.

That same day, two other employees at a separate Shoppers Drug Mart location, 2428 Eglinton Avenue East in Scarborough, tested positive for COVID-19. The last day they worked was on October 17 and 21.

On October 25, an employee at a Shoppers Drug Mart location at 1105 Kingston Road in Pickering had also tested positive for the virus. They had last worked on October 18.

Other grocers such as No Frills, Loblaws, and Metro have also reported cases of COVID-19 in employees this week and over 20 the week before.

In an effort for transparency, Loblaws regularly updates their coronavirus cases in stores by province within the last 15 days.

“In addition, we have mandated that our staff and customers wear masks in Extra Foods, Fortinos, Maxi, No Frills, Real Canadian Superstores and T&T stores across Canada,” said Loblaws.
