End-of-day Friday is supposed to be a time of joy. It’s the weekend, after all!
But sometimes things don’t work out the way we want them to.
And this Friday, instead of marking the beginning of a weekend, marks the end of an era. Schmaltz Appetizing is gearing up to close its location on the Ossington Strip.
The shop, known for taking up the corner lot of Ossington and Dundas with windows that still read “Waltman’s Drug Store,” will be closing its doors on October 6.

“You can still get all your Schmaltz Appetizing needs at [our] other location,” the sign posted to the front door reads. The other location is located at 414 Dupont Street, east of Bathurst on Howland, behind Fat Pasha.
So if you’ve been looking for a sign to fill up on Ossington Strip bagels within the next week… this is it.
